Tyler Shaw struck gold early on in his career, releasing his debut single "Kiss Goodnight" in December 2012 and receiving a Gold certification from Music Canada the following year. He released two albums, Yesterday (2015) and Intuition (2018), with 2021's self-titled offering coming in 2021. "When You're Home" is one of the album's singles, an emotional celebration of love and stabilty. "The ghosts / That live in the walls / They watch us dance / Our living room waltz / Skin / Protects and it binds / I feel yours on mine / And I know I'm home," he sings, setting up a cosy scene of domestic bliss, which he takes further in the chorus: "We'll make a palace of this apartment / The best thing of all, it's only just started and I know / When you're home, I’m home / Stars through the window, they light up our disco / It's just you and I, the two of us starring in this show / We'll never be alone / 'Cause when you're home, I'm home."
