Alternative pop innovators Twenty One Pilots threw a glittery electronic pop curveball with their 2021 single "Shy Away," the lead single from the duo's sixth studio album, Scaled and Icy, which was released in May 2021. The song is inspired by a conversation between the duo's lead singer Tyler Josephs and his younger brother (who is often alluded to in Twenty One Pilots’s music) and offers up nuggets of advice pertaining to his brother's musical ambitions.
