"This Time It's Real" was written by David Bartlett, the band's tenor saxophonist and backing vocalist Emilio Castillo and baritone saxophonist, oboe player and backing vocalist Stephen "Doc" Kupka and may not have been the biggest track on the album (that was in fact the single "So Very Hard to Go") but it was certainly a huge statement in its own right, a Stax-ready scorcher with a shimmering, positive outlook.
