Following the success of their new age-speckled soft rock classic, "Africa" and subsequent album Toto IV, Toto put their name to another song about Africa "Mushanga" was featured on the band's seventh album, The Seventh One – which was released in 1986 to rounds of applause – and tells the tale of a poet and magazine writer who, while on assignment to "report on political views" in South Africa, falls in love with the titular South African girl from Cape Town. "You broke into my heart / I saw your eyes and then I knew / You broke into my heart / Like the wind and rain that followed you," gushes Toto singer Joseph Williams. Built on a percussive playground from celebrated drummer Jeff Porcaro, the soaring, fragrant rock track is adorned with knotty guitar work, steel drums, flute and recorder from Jim Horn and with additional backing vocals from Patti Austin.
