Even though they had scored the biggest hit of their career with their 1982 album Toto IV, which featured the Top 10 singles "Rosanna," "Africa," and "I Won't Hold You Back," the recording process of their fifth album was anything but smooth. Bobby Kimball, their lead vocalist at the time, was plagued by a series of personal and drug-related issues that led to his eventual dismissal from the band. On top of that, bassist David Hungate abandoned the group shortly after Toto IV's release to spend more time with his family. After reassembling their lineup with Mike Porcaro on bass and LeRoux's Fergie Frederiksen on lead vocals, Toto finally released their fifth LP Isolation in 1984. Despite not being as successful as their previous outing, Isolation still managed to achieve Gold certification thanks to the hit single "Stranger in Town." It also featured the Jeff Porcaro/David Paich original "Holyanna," an upbeat pop-rock tune about a Catholic school girl with a penchant for the nightlife. Released in January 1985, "Holyanna" reached Number 71 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
