"Out of Time" is a song from The Weeknd's critically acclaimed fifth studio album, Dawn FM. It was officially released as the album's third single on January 25, 2022. Written and produced by The Weeknd with Daniel Lopatin (aka Oneohtrix Point Never), the song also features additional production by Max Martin and Oscar Holter, and a voiceover appearance by Hollywood actor Jim Carrey. "Out of Time" is largely built around a sample of the 1983 city pop classic "Midnight Pretenders" by Japanese musician Tomoko Aran, who is also listed in the credits. Very much in line with the album's purgatory-themed narrative arc, the track's lyrics find the Canadian singer-songwriter struggling with the regret of ruining a past romantic relationship and asking his former lover to give him a second chance. Shortly after being sent to urban adult contemporary radio, "Out of Time" peaked at Number 11 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
