With a career spanning over four decades of music, The Tragically Hip were one of the most popular acts to emerge from the Canadian alternative rock scene of the late 1980s. After the success of their first two albums Up to Here (1989) and Road Apples (1991), The Tragically Hip hired American producer Chris Tsangarides intending to finally break into the American market. Fully Completely, their third studio album, was recorded in London and released on October 6, 1992. Despite not having achieved their initial goal, the LP was met with great enthusiasm in their native Canada, becoming their second consecutive album to top the local albums chart. It also included the promotional single "At the Hundredth Meridian," which takes its name from the invisible line that separates Western Canada from the Central and Atlantic regions. Featuring contributions by the entire band, the song is a tribute to the vastness of the Canadian territory. Upon its release, "At the Hundredth Meridian" reached Number 18 on the Canadian RPM Singles chart.
