The band were formed in Sydney in 2008 by frontman Frankie McLaughlin and bassist Johnny McKelvey, who later recruited guitarist Gabriel Whitbourne, drummer Anthony Matters, and Adam Kenny on banjo, mandolin, and bouzouki to join in the fun.
