How far would you go for love? Written by songwriters Gary Zekley and Mitchell Bottler, "I'd Wait a Million Years" tells the story of a who would do a million things (but not that) in the hope of winning over the girl he loves. "All of the lonely nights / Waiting for you to come / Longing to hold you tight / I need you so desperately / Waiting for you to come / Bringing your love to me," begins the stomping, groovy 1969 psych-pop single by US rockers The Grass Roots, before continuing: "But I'd wait a million years / Walk a million miles / Cry a million tears / I'd swim the deepest sea / Climb the highest hill / Just to have you near me"). "I'd Wait a Million Years" made it to Number 15 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the first of three single from the band's fifth album, Leaving It All Behind – which was released in November 1969 by Dunhill Records – and is counted among their most treasured tunes.
