Gin and Juice - The Gourds - MP3 instrumental karaoke

The Gourds had released over a dozen albums of original material in their 19 years together but their most popular song is a cover of a rap song. The Texas based alt-country band recorded a version of Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice" which became a much-loved cover. Band member Kevin Russell said he first heard Snoop's song when his little sister played it for him and he loved it. The cover might seem like an odd fit for the band but he explained, "Rap is the last true folk music of the 20th century, a hundred-year span of American music that has reshaped the entire Western culture. So, "Gin and Juice" fits right in with my love of American folk music from Leadbelly to Snoop Dogg".
