The ska classic "Enjoy Yourself" has had an interesting journey since its inception in the late 40s. Originally written by composer Carl Sigman and lyricist Herb Magidson, it was first popularized as "Enjoy Yourself (It's Later Than You Think)" by bandleader and violinist Guy Lombardo and his orchestra His Royal Canadians in 1949, breaking into the Top 10 of the Billboard charts a year later. Throughout the years, "Enjoy Yourself" was covered in its original form by a whole host of artists such as Bing Crosby, Doris Day, and Tommy Dorsey. In 1963, the song was covered by Jamaican singer-songwriter Prince Buster, who shortened the tile and imbued it with a distinct ska feel, changing the lyrics of the verses but keeping the original chorus. In the following years, "Enjoy Yourself" became a sort of underground classic in the ska scene, mainly thanks to The Specials' rendition, included in their 1980 More Specials album.
