"Octopus's Garden" is a psychedelic pop track from The Beatles' iconic 1969 Abbey Road album. Written by Ringo Starr with some help from guitarist George Harrison and produced by the whole band, the song's origins trace back to 1968, during the drummer's trip on comedian Peter Sellers' boat in Sardinia. After a surprising lunch featuring squid, a conversation with the captain about octopuses and their undersea "gardens" provided him with the inspiration he needed. Beyond its aquatic theme, Ringo Starr's motivation to pen the track stemmed from a wish to find solace from the escalating tensions within the band. Interestingly enough, it had the peculiarity of being the last song released by The Beatles with Ringo Starr on lead vocals. In 2014, the drummer authored a children's book named after it, which featured illustrations by Ben Cort and a CD offering a wide array of different versions.
