Following a legal dispute with her former label Big Machine over the masters of her early LPs, American singer-songwriter and pop phenomenon Taylor Swift set out on a quest to re-record the first six albums in her catalog. After topping the charts in the United States and in several other countries with Fearless (Taylor's Version) in early 2021, she repeated the feat once again in November of that year with Red (Taylor's Version), which debuted atop the Billboard 200 and the UK's Official Singles Chart, breaking numerous streaming records along the process. The latter included the song "Ronan (Taylor's Version)," a re-recorded rendition of her 2012 track that reached Number 2 on Billboard's US Digital Song Sales chart. The track had been originally released as a charity single and was inspired by Maya Thompson's blog, which documented her son Ronan's lengthy battle against neuroblastoma. All proceeds from the original single had gone to fight cancer and Thompson was credited as co-writer as well.
