"Mean" is a banjo 'n' bluegrass-flavoured reminder of Taylor Swift's country music roots and the plaid-draped outlier on her third studio album of pristine pop, Speak Now (2010). As a testament to its authentic country swagger, "Mean" was crowned Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song at the 2012 Grammy Awards and gave Taylor Swift a number two footing on the Hot Country Songs chart. Thematically, the song is a departure from the superstar's typical heart-on-its-sleeve relationship fare, this time striking out against the music critic Bob Lefsetz who criticised Taylor Swift's voice in a 2010 live review. "You, with your words like knives / And swords and weapons that you use against me," she hisses in the first verse. A re-recorded version of "Mean," re-named "Mean (Taylor's Version)," appeared on Taylor Swift's third re-recorded album Speak Now (Taylor's Version), which was released in July 2023 as part of her notorious 2019 masters dispute.

The truth is I like this than the official that is already released, cuz the official is so dry the banjo is dry, the banjo of this version is more beautiful or it's so lovely to listen, and the official is like kinda old to, I love this version, tnx kv, you always do the best :)Karaoke Version 11 years agoThank you Justine :) -
