"All Too Well" is a song by Taylor Swift from her 2012 album Red. After a painful breakup, the usually prolific songstress went through a difficult six-month writer's block where she was unable to put her feelings into words. When she finally was able to sort through her emotions, she came up with "All Too Well." Although not mentioned by name, the song is about Jake Gyllenhaal, whom she dated for three months in 2010. The song started as a ten-minute tirade she performed at a concert. After listening to a live recording, Swift reached out to frequent collaborator Liz Rose, and the two wrote a shortened version. In 2021, the singer released a ten-minute version of "All Too Well," but this backing track is for the original recording.
