Texas-born country luminary Tanya Tucker got her start in the 1970s as a teen star before retreating from the spotlight in the mid-1980s. She came back fighting fit in 1986, inking a deal with Capitol Records and scoring a Top five hit that year via "One Love at a Time." She spent the next three decades asserting her hold on the country scene with releases like 2019's Grammy-winning While I'm Livin' and her critically acclaimed 24th album My Turn (2009), on which "Oh Lonesome Me" is featured. "Oh Lonesome Me" is a reinterpretation of the song originally written by Don Gibson with Chet Atkins in 1957 that rocketed to the top of the country chart and stayed there for eight consecutive weeks. Tanya Tucker's rendition is a fine specimen of a traditional country barnstormer that served as the LP's tenth track.
