"They'll Never Be" is a song by the funk/R&B group Switch. The band got its name due to the band members’ ability to switch lead vocals and instruments. "They'll Never Be" is their best-known song. It was a top 10 R&B hit and reached #39 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track was produced by Jermaine Jackson and features a heavy bass topped with a falsetto lead vocal sung by Bobby DeBarge. And yes, he and fellow Switch member Tommy DeBarge are the older brothers to the successful DeBarge family group. After leaving Switch, they were able to mentor the young group and were instrumental in getting them a record deal. "They'll Never Be" has been sampled for several rap songs and covered by SWV and Boyz II Men.
The backing track for "They'll Never Be" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
