"Happy" is a song by the R&B group Surface from their self-titled debut album. Bernard Jackson's smooth lead vocal paired with the mid-tempo synth groove was a perfect combination. The song quickly reached number two on Billboard's Hot 100 R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart. With lyrics about love, complete with a "Hello, how ya doin' Baby?" phone call, "Happy" paved the way for future hits "Shower Me with Your Love," "You Are My Everything," and their pop crossover number one, "The First Time."
