"Same in the End" is a song from Sublime's self-titled third and final album. Coming from the Long Beach, California surf scene, Sublime's groundbreaking music combined elements of punk, reggae, ska-punk, and hip hop. Lyrically, the band incorporates many subjects, from addiction and mental health issues to humor. The lyrics to "Same in the End" contain a fictitious product, Rectite, originally coined by Miami Herald humor columnist Dave Barry. While the product was supposed to keep a Thanksgiving Turkey's butt closed to prevent salmonella, it has become slang to drug users who often struggle with diarrhea. "I'm a triple-rectified-ass son-of-a-bitch / Rec-tite on my ass and it makes me itch / I can see for miles and miles and miles, oh / My broken heart make me smile."
The backing track for "Same in the End" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.
