"You've Really Got a Hold on Me" is a song by American singer-songwriter Smokey Robinson, included in The Miracles' 1963 album The Fabulous Miracles. Written during a business trip to New York in 1962, the song was influenced by another charting hit at the time, Sam Cooke's "Bring It on Home to Me." Later that year, Smokey Robinson recorded the track with The Miracles at Motown's Studio A and released it as a B-side to "Happy Landing." Against all odds, "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" outperformed "Happy Landing" on the regional charts and was re-released as the A-side, reaching Number 8 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and Number 1 on the R&B charts. A sentimental ballad that harkens back to the golden days of doo-wop, the track is based around Marv Tarplin's twangy guitar riff and The Miracles' classic call-and-response vocals. A year later, The Beatles, included it on their second British album, With The Beatles, under the title "You Really Got a Hold on Me." In 1998, the song received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award.
