On their anthemic 2006 single "Lazy Eye," LA alt-rockers Silversun Pickups swap sunshine for clouds, and mine imperfection and existential dread. "Everyone's so intimately rearranged / Everyone's so focused clearly with such shine / Everyone's so intimately rearranged / Everyone's so focused clearly with such shine," sings lead singer and guitarist Brian Aubert, who wrote the song. His voice later erupts with red-raw fury to bring "Lazy Eye" to its rather negative conclusion: "Locked and loaded / Still the same ol' decent lazy eye straight through your gaze / That's why I said I relate / I said we relate, it's so fun to relate," he shrieks on this single from Silversun Pickups' debut album Carnavas, (2006) which was also a playable track on Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour. Carnavas, which pays homage to Brian Aubert's Greek heritage, produced two top 10 singles for the US Modern Rock chart, "Lazy Eye" (which went to Number 5) and "Well Thought Out Twinkles" (which went to Number 9).
