"She's a Mystery to Me" is a song by Roy Orbison from his 22nd album, Mystery Girl. Recording for the album was completed a month before his death on December 6. 1988. The song had a very unusual origin. While on tour with U2, Bono woke up after sleeping with the Blue Velvet soundtrack CD on repeat. The soundtrack includes Roy Orbison's "In Dreams." Bono immediately had a melody going through his mind and was sure it was another Orbison song from the soundtrack. But there was only one Orbison song on there. The next night at his Wembley Stadium soundcheck, Bono sang the song idea to the band. After the concert, Orbison showed up backstage for an unannounced visit. A shocked Bono played the song for Orbison, who recorded the song for what became his last album.
