Sometimes mistaken as a solo Michael Jackson song, “Somebody’s Watching Me” is a 1984 single by American singer Rockwell, included in his debut studio album of the same name. It features guest vocals by Michael Jackson on the chorus, along with Jermaine Jackson providing backing vocals. “Somebody’s Watching Me” was written by Rockwell himself (real name Kennedy Gordy), and produced by Rockwell in collaboration with Curtis Anthony Nolen. The song is a synth-funk tune with a streak of paranoia running throughout. It was a tremendous worldwide success for Rockwell, topping the charts in several countries all over the world. In the United States, it peaked at Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was certified Gold for sales of over 1,000,000 copies and became a signature song for Rockwell. A cover version by DJ Bobo was also a hit in 1992, as well as a version by Dutch dance group Beatfreakz in 2006.
