Honky tonk hero and Texan country luminary Ray Price was such a unique force on the Nashville scene that his 4/4 sound was even given its own name: the "Ray Price beat." Together with his illustrious baritone, he worked this musical prototype into hits like 1956 single "Crazy Arms," "Release Me," (1954) "Heartaches by the Number," (1959) "For the Good Times," (1968) "Night Life," (1963) and "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" (1973). "One More Time" was released in 1960 and possessed all the key ingredients of a traditional country scorcher, complete with emotionally resonant fiddle. The love ballad has also been covered by Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and George Jones and was revived by Vince Gill and instrumentalist Paul Franklin for a collection of Ray Price classics in 2021. Ray Price was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996 and passed away on 16 December 2013 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
