In this indie-rock tale of self-enlightenment, a man finds salvation through his very own "Cocaine Jesus," only to be let down and ultimately left feeling empty and unfilled by constantly chasing the high of a drug-fuelled relationship. North Carolina indie rockers Rainbow Kitten Surprise aka Ela Melo, Darrick "Bozzy" Keller, Ethan Goodpaster, Jess Haney, and Charlie Holt recorded "Cocaine Jesus" in 2015 and accrued a much-loved addition to their oeuvre. The track was included on their sophomore album of 2015, RKS, which also featured similar-themed tracks like "Wasted" and "The Comedown." The band released one more album—How To: Friend, Love, Freefall—in 2018, 2021 live album RKS! Live from Athens Georgia and a slew of further singles including "Our Song," "Work Out," and “Drop Stop Roll" before they were forced to call it a day in 2023, citing a band member's "medical crisis" as the reason for their split.
