Since his debut back in 2013 with his first EP A Red Town View, each one of Parker McCollum's releases has represented a giant quantitative leap forward in terms of songwriting. After documenting his upbringing on his studio debut The Limestone Kid (2015), and scoring his first charting effort with 2017's Probably Wrong, the Texas-based singer-songwriter signed a recording contract with MCA Nashville in 2019. The EP Hollywood Gold (2020), his first major-label release, entered the Top 10 of the country charts in the US and was followed by Gold Chain Cowboy in 2021. "To Be Loved by You," the album's first single, was written by Parker McCollum with frequent collaborator Rhett Atkins during an impromptu writing session on his tour bus. According to the author, the country-rock tune was largely inspired by a rough patch in his relationship with his fiancée. Shortly after being released, "To Be Loved by You" broke into the Top 10 of both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts.
