Baroque rock, proto-environmentalist epic “Revelation (Mother Earth)” is a song of many twists and turns, from the acoustic folk-like intro and the eerie gothic bells to the vocoder that makes a surprise appearance halfway through. There's also velvety piano meandering, blistering guitar from Randy Rhoads and of course, Ozzy Osbourne's distinctive vocals. "Revelation (Mother Earth)" is the eighth track from Ozzy Osbourne's debut 1980 album Blizzard of Ozz – the UK heavy metal heavyweight's first solo release after getting fired from Black Sabbath the year before. Written by Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, and Bob Daisley, it's a meditation on environmental destruction and lifts some of its lyrics from the Bible's book of Revelations, opening with the lines; "Mother please forgive them / For they know not what they do / Looking back in history's books / It seems it's nothing new / Oh, let my mother live".
