American singer and songwriter Noah Cyrus knows this well, and so it makes sense that her song "July", a single off her second EP The End of Everything (2020), feels so confident and comfortable in its bare-bones vulnerability; the song is based on a quietly plucked acoustic guitar over which Noah Cyrus sings lyrics about heartbreak and mustering the strength to leave a toxic relationship. Noah Cyrus’s vocals carry a country tinge to them, providing the song with a mournful and sincere quality, and the whistling solo towards the end of the track is strangely haunting. An alternate version of this song was released featuring guest vocals by American soul singer Leon Bridges, which hit Number 85 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
