On "Euphoria," Muse attempt to capture the claustrophobia and hopelessness of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Shut down, we are growing spiritless / If no one cares, then who is gonna save us?," wails Matt Bellamy in the track's opening verse. His voice, high and tender, encircles the song’s baroque, arpeggiated synths like a giddy hawk while intoxicating electric guitar brings the rock to the dance. The blistering track (which hits 158BPM) was featured on Muse's glam-tinged synth-rock ninth studio album Will of the People, a loose concept record about an oppressive dystopia where revolution is on the cards. The LP spawned several singles, including "Won't Stand Down," "Compliance" and "You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween." Will of the People – the follow-up to 2018's Simulation Theory – went to number one in the UK, giving the band their seventh chart-topping album on the UK Albums Chart, as well as reaching number 15 on the Billboard 200.
