"Little Latin Lupe Lu" springs to life like a jack-in-the-box, Mitch Ryder's soulful voice blaring out of the record with a shabby kind of charm. This energetic rock 'n' roll jam launched the career of Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, who began life in Detroit in the early '60s. After giving The Righteous Brothers their first hit in 1963 – a year before the pair ascended to the heights of superstardom with You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin'Little Latin Lupe Lu" became a lodestar for the Detroit rockers too, with the group beating the Brothers to strike number 17 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and number 16 on Cashbox. "Little Latin Lupe Lu" was originally written by Righteous Brother Bill Medley (who was behind the number one duet with Jennifer Warnes that everyone loves to hate, "(I've Had) The Time of My Life") when he was just 19-years-old. It went on to be covered live by world-famous stars like Bruce Springsteen and the Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde.

That snare drum spoils the mix. Lead guitar not loud enough. Didn't hear cohesiveness between the instruments.
