Milli Vanilli are one of the most recognisable—and controversial—acts to emerge from the golden age of 1980s and 1990s dance-pop, launching their career in 1988 with debut studio album All or Nothing, which was repackaged for the US market the following year as Girl You Know It's True, named for its standout opening track. The pair shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You" (also known as "I'm Gonna Miss You") while also making it to number one in Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. The repackaged album even earned the German-French R&B duo a Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1990.
