On "Call Me Irresponsible," the title track of Michael Bublé's Grammy-winning fifth studio album (released in 2007), the mahogany-rich pluck of a double bass mingles with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, famed producer David Foster and the Canadian star's charismatic million-dollar croon. Originally conceived in 1962 by composer Jimmy Van Heusen with lyrics written by Sammy Cahn, "Call Me Irresponsible" won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1963 and was first immortalised by Judy Garland on episode seven of The Judy Garland Show and Frank Sinatra that same year. "Call Me Irresponsible" has also been covered by everyone from Bobby Darin (on 1964's From Hello Dolly to Goodbye Charlie) and Eddie Fisher (on 1965's Eddie Fisher Today!) to Brenda Lee (on 1965's Too Many Rivers) and Julie London (on 1965's "Our Fair Lady"). In 1992, Tony Bennett put his voice to the song for his Frank Sinatra tribute, Perfectly Frank.
