Meghan Trainor sprinkled some Cuban flavouring into her 2022 album Takin' It Back via the slinky Latin pop of reggaeton-powered fantasy "Mama Wanna Mambo," which features guest spots from legendary Cuban-American trumpeter/composer Arturo Sandoval and Dominican singer Natti Natasha. The song plays around with some of the central themes of the LP, where motherhood, feminism, self-love, and vulnerability are all given airtime. On "Mama Wanna Mambo"—which was inspired by Perry Como's 1954 track "Papa Loves Mambo”—Meghan Trainor celebrates the freedom of mothers to dance when they want to: "Baby, why don't we go, we go / Somewhere we can mambo, mambo?" she coos. "Mama Wanna Mambo" is the 10th track on Meghan Trainor's fifth major-label studio album Takin' It Back, which landed at number 16 on the Billboard 200 and became her highest-charting album since her second major-label studio album, Thank You, in 2016.
