For Rust in Peace… Polaris,” Megadeth harnessed the literary device of anthropomorphism to become a nuclear weapon (namely Polaris or the British Naval Ballistic Missile System), plotting a full-throttle beefy masterpiece that has stood the test of time. Written by the band's Dave Mustaine—who took inspiration from a bumper sticker that read: “May all your nuclear weapons rust in peace"—Rust in Peace… Polaris" asserts that nuclear warheads will eventually "rust in peace" rather than be used. It's a hopeful outlook, to say the least. The Californian metal masters wrapped up their 1990 Rust in Peace album with closing track Rust in Peace… Polaris" which was originally titled Child Saint and penned by Dave Mustaine in his pre-Megadeth days. The band struck platinum with Rust in Peace, an enduring monument to thrash metal, and received the nomination for Best Metal Performance at the 33rd Grammy Awards.
