On “Foreclosure of a Dream,” the politically charged fourth track from the band’s 1992 album Countdown to Extinction, Dave Mustaine and co. deliver one of the most prescient songs in the Megadeth back catalogue, riffing on the American economy with guitars and wails aplenty. "Foreclosure of a Dream" was inspired by the foreclosure of bassist Dave "Junior" Ellefson's father's farm, located in rural Southern Minnesota, and was later released by Capitol Records as a single. Countdown to Extinction threw up some of Megadeth's most significant songs, including "Symphony of Destruction," "Sweating Bullets," and "Skin o' My Teeth," and flew to number two on the Billboard 200, marking the band's highest-ever position. The LP also received a nod at the Grammy Awards in 1993, nominated for Best Metal Performance, while the title track picked up the Humane Society's Genesis Award for raising awareness for animal rights issues.
