"World Burn" is a song from the coming-of-age stage musical Mean Girls, based on the 2004 teen comedy of the same name. Much like the movie, the musical follows the life of Cady Heron (played by Erika Henningsen), a teenage girl attending high school for the first time in her life after being homeschooled for several years. There, she tries to navigate the complex social hierarchy of the modern American high school, often experiencing bullying firsthand at the hands of a social clique led by Regina George. And it is precisely Regina, portrayed by actress Taylor Louderman, who is at the center of "World Burn," a bitter song about her plans to frame Cady after finding out she had been betrayed. Written by composer Jeff Richmond and lyricist Nell Benjamin, "World Burn" is featured in the second half of the musical's Act Two. It was also included in the Original Broadway Cast recording, which debuted at Number 42 on the Billboard 200 in 2018.
