"It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" is a holiday song written by American songwriter Meredith Willson in 1951. Inspired by a trip to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, the composer drew inspiration from the regional landscape, making several mentions of iconic landmarks in the small town, such as the Grand Hotel, where he stayed during his visit, as well as Frost Park and some local grocery stores. Over a decade later, Meredith Willson included the song in his 1963 Broadway musical Here's Love, where it was sung in counterpoint to "Pine Cones and Holly Berries." The song was further popularized by singer-songwriter Johnny Mathis, who recorded a version on his fourth holiday album Christmas Eve with Johnny Mathis in 1986. Mathis' take on the Christmas classic became even more popular after being included in the 1992 box office hit Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. In 2018, country singer Martina McBride offered her own spin on "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" on her second Christmas album, It's the Holiday Season.
