Co-written by bandmates Madison Marlow and Taylor Dye with help from Deric Ruttan and Jonathan Singleton, "Die From A Broken Heart" details a heart-to-heart conversation between a woman and her mother. "Hey Mama, how do you get a red wine stain outta your favorite dress?" goes the first line, ultimately leading to a request for relationship advice following a messy breakup. Maddie & Tae's closely-entwined harmonies drive the song forward, along with a cynical guitar riff that mirrors the melody of the song's refrain. Released as the second single from the pair's sophomore record, The Way It Feels, "Die From A Broken Heart" became Maddie & Tae's first crossover hit, climbing to Number 22 on the all-genre Hot 100 and earning platinum status during the summer of 2020.
