The Northern Soul classic "Beggin'" was written by keyboardist-songwriter Bob Gaudio and lyricist Peggy Farina in 1967. At that point, Gaudio, who had previously penned some of the Four Seasons' biggest hits, hadn't written anything for the band since their 1965 single "Girl Come Running." Included in the Four Seasons' 1967 New Gold Hits album, "Beggin'" reached Number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Gaudio's last Top 20 hit for the group until 1975's "Who Loves You." In 2007, Norwegian hip-hop duo Madcon offered a refreshing take on the song with slightly modified lyrics and additional rap verses. Madcon's version, which featured live instrumentation by the production team 3Elementz, debuted atop the VG-lista and stayed there for 12 weeks. Shortly after its release, the song received the Spellemannprisen award for Hit of the Year. In 2021, the success of Måneskin's cover prompted Madcon to release a remix featuring Canadian DJ Frank Walker.
