Rap-meets-rock firebrand Machine Gun Kelly has mapped out his route to the top via five albums, two EPs, eight mixtapes, and a hefty cache of singles. On his fifth studio album, Tickets to My Downfall – released in September 2020 – the US rapper, singer, actor and Bad Boy Records signee swapped hip-hop for straight-up guitars, lending his focus entirely to snotty-nosed pop-punk. One of the highlights of the album is the anthemic first single, "Bloody Valentine," which was written by Machine Gun Kelly with Nicholas Alex Long, Mod Sun, and Blink-182's Travis Barker, who was also the drummer and producer on the track. With the video starring Machine Gun Kelly's current girlfriend Megan Fox, the song comes to a head in the soaring chorus: "I don't do fake love / But I'll take some from you tonight / I know I've got to go / But I might just miss the flight / I can't stay forever, let's play pretend / And treat this night like it'll happen again / You'll be my bloody valentine tonight."
