Luke Bryan serves up a beer and gas-guzzling ode to good times and getting jiggy with it on "Knockin' Boots," which was released in April 2019 as the lead single from the country star's seventh studio album Born Here Live Here Die Here, (August 2020). On this saucy, innuendo-filled country bop – which was written by Jon Nite, Hillary Lindsey and Gordie Sampson and produced by Jeff Stevens and Jody Stevens – Luke Bryan has fun on his mind: "Long weeks need a weekend / Cheap drinks need a-slingin' / That dance floor needs some me on you / And you on me tonight / Singalongs need to be sung / Tip bells need to be rung / Last calls need a call that cab / And backseats need I want you so bad." The phrase knocking boots was allegedly conceived in the 1980s but has its origins in the Old West, when cowboys would supposedly leave their boots under the bed before getting amorous with their lover.
