On the title track to her fourth studio album Special – the follow-up to her Grammy-winning major label debut Cuz I Love You (2019) – Lizzo asks: "Could you imagine a world where everybody's the same / And you could cancel a girl 'cause she just wanted to change? / How could you throw fuckin' stones if you ain't been through her pain?". She also reps The Notorious B.I.G. ("Is it just because I'm black and heavy? Y'all don't hear me though") as well as her hometown of Houston, Texas ("I've been the same since I've been drivin' slow on Bissonnet / Call up anybody I knew and they would tell you that") on this fresh, orchestral-lined pop number. The US powerhouse followed her hit-backed third album with a record of honest songs about her experiences of fame and rose to number two on the US Billboard 200 chart for her troubles, bagging – at the time – the highest-charting album by a female artist in 2022.
