Following the untimely death of Lowell George in 1979 and the band's brief separation, a newly reassembled Little Feat came hurtling into the late '80s with their rock 'n' roll fireball, "Let It Roll." The US band's rollicking 1988 single, which was featured on their eighth studio album of the same name, is a classic road trip tune, with the opening verse evoking the feeling of burning rubber in the great outdoors: "Rollin' down highway 95 / Sailin' through her hometown countryside / Move on over stand astride / My cruise control's in overdrive / Need to take my baby for a ride." Elsewhere, metaphors like "smooth stretch of highway" and lines like "if my motor's runnin' right, we might lose control tonight" are used to describe a lover. Written by Little Feat newcomer Craig Fuller, "Let It Roll" peaked at Number 3 on the US rock chart at the time of its release.
