Following the world-beating success of that album, the band had free reign to be more creative with their next record and on Minutes to Midnight eschew the baggy jeans-clad nu-metal sound of their first two releases for a more straight-down-the-line rock sound, all mixed in with angst-ridden punk and hip-hop.
