"Wanna Be a Baller" is a song by Houston rapper/producer Lil' Troy. The song takes an aspirational look of being a baller or someone who finds success hustling and making money on the streets. The song uses a slowed-down sample of Prince's hit "Little Red Corvette,” which was something Lil' Troy failed to mention when he got signed. Fortunately, Prince liked the song and didn't pursue any legal action. The song has a tragic legacy as almost everyone who performed on it has died. Fat Pat was shot to death before the song was released. His brother, Big Hawk, who filled in for him for the video was also murdered. Lil' Will died in a car crash in 2016, and two years later, Big T died of a suspected heart attack. Lil' Troy is still alive and looking forward to doing concerts after the Covid shutdown.
