American contemporary Christian music singer and songwriter Lauren Daigle managed to record one of the newest entries into the genre’s canon with her 2014 song “Light of the World.” The song was written by Lauren Daigle along with Paul Mabury and Paul Duncan, and was actually written over a video call while Daigle was in Louisiana and her writing partners were in Nashville. The singer took inspiration from the gap of 400 years between the Old and the New Testaments in the Bible when the people of the world were searching while God was absent. Those themes were developed into the rousing piano-driven ballad that would go on to become a hit in the contemporary Christian music world. “Light of the World” was first recorded for her record label’s compilation album Centricity Christmas: Joy to the World. It was also released as her debut single, entering the Billboard Christian Songs Airplay chart in December 2013 and later peaking at Number 16.
