Lake Street Dive have been putting their own genre-mashing stamp on well-known pop songs since forming in 2004 at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. They dropped their debut studio album, In This Episode... in 2007, getting three more under their belt – Promises, Promises (2008), Lake Street Dive(2010) and Bad Self Portraits (2014) – before releasing their Fun Machine EP in 2014. Although it may have only made it to Number 187 on the Billboard chart, Fun Machine was the first release by Lake Street Dive to give the band any chart kudos. One of the standout tracks on the EP was this jazz, horn-flecked cover of "Rich Girl, a song by Hall & Oates that was a huge single for the duo in 1977, becoming the first of their six Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers. Lake Street Dive singer Rachael Price brings a luscious lilt to lyrics like "Oh, you're a rich girl, and you've gone too far," on a song that transcends genres and eras.
