Whiskey is a regular of the country music playbook–it might even be the genre's favourite beverage, after beer. So it follows that Lainey Wilson should be in fine company with 2018's ode to the amber-colored liquor, "Waste of Good Whiskey," which was featured on her debut self-titled EP. Propping up the bar, she laments her whiskey-fueled inebriation, having guzzled far too much of the "top shelf" stuff. "A pretty penny for a faded memory, yeah / What a waste of good whiskey," she sings in the chorus, backed by classic country tones. Whiskey often goes well with regret, and Lainey Wilson's got plenty of that in "Waste of Good Whiskey." The Louisiana-born star would go on to win seven Country Music Association Awards, one Grammy Award, and six Academy of Country Music Awards while also single-handedly re-shaping the sound of modern country with her 1970s-loving 2022 LP Bell Bottom Country. So maybe regret is off the cards, for now.
