One of the more haunting ballads from Roy Orbison's peerless back catalogue, "Crying" shows the pop auteur at his most majestic, with a minimal instrumental backdrop that allows for his unique, mahogany-rich baritone to shine. Released in 1961, when it originally went to number two, this heart-wrenching tearjerker was later honoured with a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 2002 and was brought back to life in 1987 via this iconic duet with k.d. lang. The spruced-up version was recorded for the soundtrack of 1987 comedy-drama film Hiding Out and released as a single that year, when it reached number 28 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. This timeless collaboration even won the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals. In 2010, the track was included on k.d. lang's greatest hits collection Recollection, which also contained a duet with Tony Bennett on “Moonglow” and Jane Siberry on “Calling All Angels."

The tempo is exactly the same as the original. The comment about it being too slow is incorrect. -
