Texas artist Justin Trevino knows a bit about honky-tonks. Blind since birth, as a young child he often accompanied his father to bars where he'd play his favorite songs on the jukebox. He jokes that his family didn't believe in babysitters. The adults were often surprised to learn how much the young boy loved classic country music. His favorite jukebox selection was "Hello Walls" recorded by Faron Young in 1961. Trevino's love for that style of country music grew. He learned how to play guitar and started performing in honky-tonks at 13. Trevino released "Texas Honky-Tonk" on his debut album of the same name in 1998. It has become his signature song. Trevino is still playing honky-tonks. In 2015 he released a live version of "Texas Honky-Tonk" on his Live at London Dance Hall album. London, TX, that is. The backing track for "Texas Honky-Tonk" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.

Reminds me of an old Ray Price or Johnny Bush song.I feel very fortunate that even growing up in the 90’s and early ‘00’s, I around people who actually cared enough to expose me to this kind of country music. So much of that is a part of what I do, and I wouldn’t be the same without it.
